Considering the fact that Gerald was developing weapons for GUN, there's a very real chance that they shot Maria using the weapons he created

I think this particular aspect of their backstory got translated well into the movies with how in the movie they shot the container that caused the explosion using weapons powered by Shadow's energy

There's a vocal song, 'Without You', at the end of the 3rd Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings episode, and I thought the singer sounded familiar. Looking at the credits, it's Casey Lee Williams, who's done a lot of RWBY songs. It's nice to hear her again with RWBY currently on hiatus.

Apparently, Ian Flynn is retconning Emerl's trashing of the ARK to have happened after Shadow's awakening, which contradicts what was learned in Sonic Battle.

I'm frustrated, but not surprised, as Battle is yet another game the self-proclaimed "Sonic encyclopedia" hasn't played. And, of course, people are just eating it up.

Why even bother speaking out against his BS when no one is going to care? As long as they get content that's surface-level better than what we used to get, they'll accept just about anything.

Heck, if SEGA just up and decided to let Ian decide the canon of the entire franchise going forward, the first thing he'd do is make the Archie universe the game universe and everyone would treat him like the messiah.

Hopefully, that never happens, but considering that Sega's leash gets longer as time goes on and that the loremaster they hired is a hack, my hopes are not high.

I AM SO ILL OVER THIS FUCKING SCENE.

MARIA SLOWLY DISAPPEARS FROM SHADOWS SIDE, AND AS SHE GOES, SO DOES THE LIGHT AROUND HIM.

MARIA WAS THE LIGHT IN SHADOW’S LIFE.

AND HIS FACE???? HE LOOKS SO ANGRY, STARING AT THE BLACK ARMS LARVA(?), CONTEMPLATING THE FACT THAT HE IS ESSENTIALLY EQUAL TO THIS OTHERWORLDLY CREATURE, EVEN WITH MARIA BY HIS SIDE TO ASSURE HIM HE’S MORE THAN THAT- HE’S HIMSELF. HE’S SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG. BUT AS MARIA DISAPPEARS, HIS ANGRY FROWN DROPS AND BECOMES SAD, NEAR DEJECTED. WAS MARIA’S PRESENCE THE ONLY THING THAT CONVINCED HIM HE WASN’T JUST SOME BLACK ARMS TODDLER EQUIVALENT????

I watched the Sonic X Shadow Generations Dark Beginnings trailer and went insane taking screen shots of the glitchy part where Maria grabs Shadow's hand

There's blood, scribbles, and GUN SOLDIERS. Some of these are abstract nonsense but I thought they were interesting:

My running theory is that this thing going down with Emerl is an implanted memory meant to block Shadow from remembering that it was GUN who killed Maria 👀

EDIT: New information has come to my attention regarding Sonic Battle and some journals Gerald had about Emerl. So with that in mind I'm thinking this is more like GUN using the event with Emerl to cover up what they did to Maria.

Well I think we can now safely say that Gerald built Omochao because how the heck else are you supposed to explain Omochao giving a security alert over the Ark's PA system?

Must've been after he started going insane, which would explain a lot really.
